Ring Nebula

A tiny smoke ring in the summer sky: M57 reveals its iconic form in the wide field.
M57, the Ring Nebula in Lyra, is a classic planetary nebula—the luminous shell of a dying star.
The July night was humid (74%) and the nebula sat low above the horizon; in the wide field it remains small yet cleanly defined.
From 103 short exposures, just over 17 minutes of light at f/5 add up to a delicate ring in a dense star field.
