ETHOS 1: an extremely faint planetary nebula—more sensed than seen.
Planetary nebulae are the glowing shells of Sun‑like stars at the end of life—compact, delicate forms in the stellar sea.
At just 18.7° elevation and in humid air, the nebular shell stays subdued; the 250‑mm wide field provides the surrounding context.
Revealing fine structure would require significantly longer exposures or narrowband filters.
