NGC6781

NGC 6781 appears like a dim smoke ring in Aquila, the echo of a dying star.
The nearly circular nebula in Aquila recalls the Ring Nebula yet is more diffuse and larger in apparent size. Its shell of ionized gas has been expanding into space since the end of the star’s life.
About 31 minutes of integration in humid air suffice to reveal the gentle ring structure even at 250 mm focal length.
