NGC 5746 sweeps by in a razor-thin edge-on view with a dark dust lane.
Seen edge-on, the central disc and dust lane stand out impressively, a textbook example of a spiral system’s structure.
The low elevation reduces contrast; the 250 mm f/5 wide field frames the galaxy calmly in the star field.
A total of 3890 seconds of exposure strengthens the faint disc against the haze.
