About this celestial object
NGC 4438 in the Virgo region betrays in its distorted form the traces of interaction.
Together with NGC 4435 it forms the pair "The Eyes"; gravitational forces have pulled gas and dust from the disk.
239 short exposures at about 4° altitude reveal the compact core and first extensions above the star field.
A wide 250‑mm f/5 setup preserves the context in the Virgo region.
