M99

The spiral galaxy M99 unfurls its arms almost face-on to space.
M99 is a pronounced spiral in Coma Berenices; its nearly face-on view makes the arm structure especially appealing.
Despite strong atmospheric attenuation near the horizon, the galaxy’s diffuse light distribution emerges gently.
The 250 mm wide field lets it appear as a small yet distinct island in the sea of stars.
