About this celestial object

As a slender spiral, M65 glides quietly through the deep winter night.

M65 is a spiral in Leo and, with M66 and NGC 3628, forms the well‑known Leo Triplet—three galaxies close together on the sky.

407 short exposures add up to about 68 minutes; despite 64% relative humidity, the elongated disk stands out in the wide field.

The compact F/5 setup at 250 mm uses a calm window near the horizon to include the trio’s surroundings.
