M43

M43 glows as a bright knot beside the Orion Nebula.
De Mairan’s Nebula (M43) is a compact H II region just north of M42; energetic radiation excites hydrogen to glow.
The short exposure reins in the bright core and shows the form without sinking into M42’s glare.
Captured with a 250 mm focal length at f/5.
