M17

M17 glows as a compact summer nebula with a striking arc.
Also known as the Omega or Swan Nebula, this emission nebula lies in Sagittarius and ranks among the brighter H II regions of the Milky Way.
196 short exposures (~33 minutes) at 20.2° altitude and 74% humidity were gathered with 250 mm f/5—despite the low altitude the shape remains clearly defined.
Short frames reduce scintillation and keep stars and nebular contours tight.
