About this celestial object

The Sombrero just above the horizon — M104 with its striking dust lane and bright bulge.

M104 is an almost edge‑on spiral galaxy in Virgo; the dark dust ring before the bright core gives it the nickname Sombrero. It is about 30 million light‑years away.

Observed in humid, hazy air, the radiant bulge is emphasized while the dust lane is only hinted.

21 exposures sum to 210 seconds at 250 mm and f/5.
